René Weis was born in 1953. He is Professor of English Literature at University College London and the author of numerous scholarly publications. He is also the author of Criminal Justice: The True Story of Edith Thompson, which was published to critical acclaim by Hamish Hamilton in 1988 (Penguin 1990). He lives in London.
