1. What is an eBook?

eBooks are digital files of books specially designed to be read on screens. They contain all of the same content as the print edition, and sometimes have a few added extras!

 

2. What is so good about eBooks?

eBooks are a quick and convenient way to buy, read and keep the books you want. They can be downloaded in seconds and thousands of eBooks can be stored and carried on a single device. eBooks are also interactive, allowing you to search for text, make notes or drawings. Some of our enhanced eBooks have special features such as exclusive audio or video content. (Please note enhanced eBooks are currently only available on the iBookstore for iPads, iPhones and iPod Touch devices.)

 

3. How do I buy an eBook?

Have a look at our eBooks available at www.penguinclassics.co.uk/ebooks or through selected online retailers, such as the iBookstore or the Kindle Store. Choose the title you want and make sure that you have already downloaded the appropriate software to read it. Follow the simple instructions on-screen to purchase and download the title.

To buy from penguin.co.uk, click on the title you want to read, complete the payment process and you will then be able to download the eBook to your PC or Mac. Please make sure you have first installed and authorised the Adobe Digital Editions software. Doing this will only take a few minutes, and it's free.

You can transfer your eBook to an eReader or other device to it by connecting the device to your computer (PC only) and copying it to your device within Adobe Digital Editions.

 

4. Do you have an eBook catalogue?

No, but a full list of Penguin Classics eBooks can be found here. Our eBooks also appear in Search Results alongside print editions.

 

5. Do I need a Kindle or iPad to read an eBook?

Do I need a Kindle or iPad to read an eBook? No, you can read eBooks on all kinds of eReaders as well as on your PC, Mac, tablet, iPhone and iPod touch.

 

6. Is it safe to download eBooks?

Yes. You will not download a computer virus or any other malicious file when you download eBooks from www.penguinclassics.co.uk/ebooks. Additionally, our eBooks have built-in security and encryption features to protect against copyright violations.

 

7. Can I order eBooks by phone?

Because these are digital products, they can only be ordered online.

 

8. Do I need to live in the UK to buy an eBook from penguinclassics.co.uk?

On penguinclassics.co.uk, eBooks can only be bought if you have a UK billing addresses.

 

9. With which devices are Adobe Digital Editions compatible?

10. Can I purchase an eBook as a gift?

At this time, eBooks cannot be sent as gifts. Ebook orders can only be sent to the email address on your penguinclassics.co.uk customer account.

 

11. Can I order multiple copies of the same eBook at once?

No. Currently you can only order one of each copy.

 

12. Do I have to pay delivery charges for eBooks? What about taxes?

You do not have to pay delivery charges for eBooks. However VAT is payable on digitally downloaded products and will be added to the total price of your order.

 

13. Do I have to be connected to the Internet to read my eBook?

No. Once you have paid for and downloaded your eBook you can read it offline without being connected to the Internet.

 

14. Can I pay for an eBook with a cheque?

No. eBooks can only be purchased with a credit or debit card at this time.

 

15. How long will it take to download an eBook?

The download time depends on the size of the eBook you order and the speed of the modem on your computer. Download times for an average-sized eBook according to connection speed vary between 2 seconds and 2 minutes.

 

16. What if I accidentally skip or erase the page that contains the link to my eBook?

You can access the eBook download link again by following the instructions on the confirmation email you receive from Penguin or by clicking the Your Account link on penguinclassics.co.uk.

 

17. Can I print my eBook?

At this time Penguin Classics eBooks cannot be printed.

 

18. What is the return policy for eBooks?

19. What if I have trouble downloading an eBook or a reader?

20. Does Penguin Classics accept submissions for electronic publishing?
